Gender REAct Workshop

The Gender REAct three-day workshop implemented through partnership between FOCCEC and  Frontline AIDS intended to train outreach workers, counselors in the HIV/AIDS field and other services providers from FOCCEC's partners about gender rights-evidence-action (Gender REAct). This workshop aimed to better address gender inequality in stigma, discrimination, and violence toward people with HIV/AIDS and KPs in Jordan. The workshop was specifically focused on demonstrating different forms of gender-based discrimination and violence faced by those with HIV as well as explaining how the Gender REAct can contribute to effective HIV responses in Jordan. For example, the workshop included discussing gender-based violence (GBV) such as how to identify and document GBV cases as well as engaging in group exercises to further the trainees’ understanding of the target populations' vulnerabilities. The workshop also briefly explored the impacts of Jordanian laws, policies, and regulatory frameworks on gender equality and HIV prevention. Moreover, the workshop allowed participants to consider their own experiences with and beliefs about gender equality in a confidential and supportive setting. Information collected from the workshop will be used to improve interventions, address gaps, and promote gender rights in Jordan.
